Wow, this week. This week…. This week! There are some weeks that really deflate you. This was one of those weeks.
I’ll start off by noting something that my sister wrote yesterday morning:
She was a switchboard operator in Virginia. (she described it as their “facebook”) She said “so many married men would call these women who were not their wives…. so she would “accidentally” disconnect them.”
I will miss her with all my heart but I know she lived a full life and loved everyone. I know it’s silly to put on facebook…but I needed an outlet to vent.
Mrs. Madie Silver (August 14th, 1917- February 23, 2011) ♥”
Anyway, I won’t let loose about her actual dying details, but I’ve told some that are close to me. I actually found it a little humorous, but that’s just me. Let’s just say that my grandma was always a lady, always elegant, and always a fighter – right up until the end. And laughter through tears resulted. Hearty laughter, as in, “wow, that is so her to do that”. If you really want to know, we can talk about it over a drink – otherwise, well, I’ll just leave that a little private bit.
Unfortunately, it’s got me thinking about settling down and starting the next chapter of our family. When one door closes, another opens, right? My sister probably is, too – but until then, we’ll just have to point all the attention away from our wombs straight to our three nieces.
What else happened this week… Oh my roommate got tested for boobie cancer. We were kinda trippin’ on that.
I seriously almost dumped manfriend. It’s funny, when someone insists you’re getting too serious for them, and they tell you to back off twice, you think they’re just going to walk out of your house and leave when you really hand a piece of your mind to them for 40 minutes. We’re talking yelling and waterworks, here, people. I was really mad at him for about a week, over silly little mix-ups that would have been fine had he just asked me in person instead of texting me about it. He stayed and let me yell at him. He didn’t try to cut me down during, and even tried to reason with me. He even let me drink most of his ‘Less than Three’ day beers I bought for him… This whole ‘older men’ thing is really where it’s at.
I guess when it rains, it pours.
Good things this week: It’s nice to see people you know reach out to you in times of need. In times of console. I have some very good friends (and some pretty good well-wishers, too). Also, for the past week and a half or so, my sister has been in the running for KVET’s casting call, which might be a radio publicity scam, or could actually end up in a full-time gig. No one knows.
Wait and see, I guess 🙂
