Okay. For those of you who do not know, my company is paying for me to get my webmaster’s certification through a tuition reimbursement program. I emailed Austin Community College on Monday. Nothing.
So I call up there today, and instead of listening to the option of having all this bullshit heard in Spanish, I repeatedly press 0. I get the help center with some uptight idiot who clearly doesn’t want to be working at 5 in the afternoon. I explain to her that I am doing distance education and need a list of classes I have taken and what I have paid.
Shouldn’t be that hard, right?
Well, first, she [yes, the girl at the help center] ASKS ME if I think talking to the cashiers would work. I reply back with, well, do YOU think that? I’m calling YOU for an answer. She puts me on hold while she talks to the cashier.
Well the cashier tells Miss Ihatemyjob that I have to come into the office to verify who I am. I explain to her, again, that I am distance education and surely there is something we can do about that. I get transferred to the cashier after requesting to speak to someone else.
I ask if she knows why I’m calling. She tells me the same thing she told Miss Ihatemyjob, that I absolutely HAVE to come in, there’s no way around it, yadda yadda yadda. I explain, well, I’m distance learning. I can’t come in [i.e. I am NOT going to waste half a day on driving up there just to find out I didn’t have to. It always happens with the idiots at this college.]
Homegirl finally tells me after I say that [brilliant!] that she can mail me something to the address I have on file. Hooray!
Now… Do I call that girl back to clarify or not…
Why didn’t they just say that the first time?
