I have yet to tell my tale of running Saturday morning. I promised myself that, despite my travels to Houston this weekend to tear it up with some of my favoritist girls, I was still going to run.
My hostess had a handle of vodka waiting for us. On top of the three or four beers I had on the way to Houston.
We proceeded to drink it with cranberry juice and Triple Sec.
Damn near all of it (the vodka).
I woke up with my head on an armrest and my hostess with the mostest making the breakfast of ill-slept happenings: Water, advil, and B-100 complex. After “The Soup” and a very large cup of coffee; we got ready to walk to the workout room (after a quick bout of myself lying in the fetal position on her floor, dreading the thought of even starting). As luck would have it, we couldn’t find the remote to the tv, and the heater was blasting the place as if they were setting up for that sauna-style yoga stuff. Ick. Definitely resulted in more sweating.
Running Saturday morning was awful. We got through it, and I even got higher on the treadmill than I’m kind of used to speed-wise, but I was really dragging it. I had a few spurts followed by slow, rolling hills of the running high, and even several epiphanies while pounding away and sweating out vodka on some of the faster sprints. Unfortunately, I was also smart enough to accidentally hit the emergency stop and the pause a handful of times. I actually got mad and punched the treadmill machine. Oops. I hope they weren’t filming us. Did I mention almost vomiting around the point of the wall? We can leave the deets of that part out.
Overall, I should probably sneak runs like this in on purpose. The people I’ll be running with in May are NO strangers to drinking a lot, and we WILL be outside near a Texas beach… I am so proud that we got up and ran/walked/jogged/combination of the three after a night that was INSANE [INSANITARY some would say) [details.not.to.be.mentioned.here.I.should.be.banned.from.all.communication.devices.under.the.influence.embarrassing.and.bold.all.at.once.but.it.was.kinda.fun.anyway. 😉 ]
Thus, my mantra finally proven – “It’s never too hot, it’s never too cold, I’m never too tired, and I always have time. Put on your shoes and run.” Courtesy of my wallpaper at work.
On a slightly different note, new and exciting additions to my running playlist! As I’m running farther and longer, I’m finally transitioning away from angry, scream-atcha songs into more inspirational, happy, runner’s high songs. And that is seriously just making my life all that much better!
