Hey running, nice to see you again!
It was Tuesday. The first cold of the season. I’d worked all day, stressed over a project, and still had class until 6:20. Finally made it back to Lockhart after dark and ran 1.25 miles, stopping to walk/jog twice. Considering I haven’t been doing much of anything besides smiling and laughing since the beginning of October, I’d say this was pretty good. I also have to say that I really felt like an old man running in the cold, by myself. It’s amazing how fast you fall out of shape when you aren’t paying attention.
Afterwards I sat in my car awhile and almost started crying, because my teeth hurt. I am not sure why, but my first cold run of the season always hurts my teeth for about twenty minutes after. I think this time it was a bit worse from bleaching my teeth for Jenova’s wedding. But seriously, I didn’t even cry when I messed up my knee. I sure did curse a lot, but I didn’t cry. This was awful.
Anyway, I think I’ve decided to do the Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot – a 5 mile walk/run the morning of Thanksgiving that benefits Caritas (which I think benefits the homeless community in Austin) (I could be wrong about that). Tried to get my dad and stepmom to do the joining 1 mile walk, but they will be hosting her sister and her husband (and they are all crazy, and totally fun). I will definitely miss my Macy’s Day Parade and coffee Thanksgiving ritual, but I think I can pass it up this time. Plus, I mean, if I run 5 miles that morning, I can certainly eat whatever I want all day.
Afterward they are all going to the t.u. game. I don’t have a ticket (as of yet). I also was thinking of going to midnight yell this time around on the capital steps (Hmmm, that would be the night before the Turkey Trot…) (I should put a little more thought into this) (But, I am crazy, no?) (Whatever, we stayed up forever, drank wine, and got through Beach to Bay last May) (I can so do this).
What else to report?
– The semester is coming to a close, looks like I’m going to pass
– My job is going wonderfully, I love every new person I meet
– This is seriously the happiest I’ve been since I graduated from A&M
– I love love love this time of year. The weather, the excitement, the football games, the holidays coming up…
I feel like my life is a candle that’s just been lit.
Midnight Yell at the Capitol is totally worth it. I'd run it with you, but since I don't even get cleared to exercise until this Friday (hopefully) I'm not sure I can pull it off…
