1. We went to the meat packing district
2. It rained a lot
3. We waited several hours for the US Men’s Finals and got rained out… repeatedly. We ended up watching after flying back to Atlanta.
4. We played around in Times Square on Sunday night in the rain.
5. We went to a four-story M&M store. Why the hell is there that much crap around M&M’s. An M&M sushi dish set?!!? REALLY??!
6. The US Open has a specialty cocktail for $10, $13 with a glass (those glasses sell for $10). It has Grey Goose and Chambord in it. That should be $25 in New York City, right? Although, I guess we were closer to Queens.
7. We went to a five story Toys R Us in Times Square, and I suffered a mini-stimulation overload and had to calm down. A+ wouldn’t ride the ferris wheel with me (yes, a fully-legit indoor ferris wheel) and I suspect it’s because he knew he’d end up in the Hello Kitty compartment.
8. We finally ended up Sunday night at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, where we drank about 6 rounds of margaritas, appetizers, desserts, etc.; instead of the very posh and fabulous “jacket required” dinner we originally planned for. Stupid rained out US Men’s Finals.
9. We went to this place called the “Burger Joint” in one of the nicer, more multi-cultural hotels, Le Parker Meridien. It was literally a dark, creaky hole in a very, very nice wall; and one of the best burgers in town.
10. The last thing we did before leaving was order a sandwich from Letterman’s very own Rupert of Hello Deli. It was really neat. Not at all touristy and he didn’t have the whole “Deer in Headlights” thing going on from the show that I remember.
11. Finally got my only souvenir – a pink I <3 NY magnet. I actually love NY now 🙂
