Christmas Committee & Hometown Holiday Parade Logo

I was approached by a member of the New Braunfels Christmas Committee in November to create a logo for them in under a week.

IN UNDER A WEEK.

They ran into a jam as they’d hired someone else who accepted their deposit, and then turned around and said they didn’t have any time.

Oh, and they kept the deposit.

I wish I could say this was the first time I had gotten some work as the result of someone else’s failure.

However, it was not.

I was under a lot of stress that week but, I was looking for a fun project to stifle some creativity, and my heart truly went out to them. They were in a bind. I felt like I had to help them. That it was my duty as a freelancer, a member of this community. We quickly came to an agreement and I got to work. I made some hot spiced apple cider, turned all my Pandora to Christmas tunes (much to my husband’s dismay), and got to work.

This is the first set of concepts I made for them.
They LOVED concept 1. My contact (although she relayed this to me over facebook messenger), was moved to tears.

I then embellished a bit in round 2, suggesting a snow globe as an alternate.

They very quickly decided on a snow globe for one logo, and the Christmas ornament shape for the other.

The rest is history.

I drug my husband and 9 month old son (who LOVES Christmas lights) and husband out to watch, and I’m glad I did. I’m so happy to be a part of this lively and wonderful town 🙂
